Illegal Towing & Dishonest Sales Practices
On September 7, 2013 at approximately 7:40pm in
front of Kroger located at 3226 Thomas, a driver of PB&J Towing illegally
hitched to my car with my daughter inside and drove about 20 feet until I ran
him down. The driver then got out and told
me that if I paid him $45.00 right then he would unhitch my car and I could
park where I wanted.
I told the driver that I wasn’t paying him
anything and that I wasn’t out of my car 5 seconds before he drove up and
hitched my car. I told him that what he
was actually doing was attempting to kidnap my daughter and trying to extort me. He told me that he could tow my car and to
call the police which is what I was doing anyways. I then told a one of the store workers to get
the MPD officer from inside the store.
The officer came out and stated that it was a civil issue so he needed
to call more officers.
911 called me back at that time and I told them
what was going on and they stated that they would dispatch and officer. The officer told the driver that he was doing
illegal service (illegal surfing). The
driver told officer that they (PB&J Towing) had the contract to the lot and
that he even had a MPD handbook. The
officer was on the phone requesting more officers who could deal with the civil
issue. The driver then made a phone call
and directly following asked to speak with the store officer whom was on the
phone at the time. The store officer did
however reply yes. The driver then almost
immediately said that this is too much and unhitched my car and pulled off.
If he was in the right, why did he drive off
without the $45.00?
If he
was in the right, would the officer had told me I would have been
justified
if I shot him?
