Art: The Imitation of Life
In today's time, we are seeing that music influences culture more now than ever. Music fanatics have even gone to the extremes of portraying their favorite star on Halloween. Of course, we've all heard that cliche that "art imitates life"! Well, life now imitates art.
How can we separate art from life and life from art? Any inkling of living one's fantasy may be just enough to be addictive. I think we must get back to our roots as creatives to forge a separation between art and life. Simply put, if we were making art ourselves, we would be more equipped to distinguish it from life.
To each is his own art but life has a way of stiffing the creativity of some through living life itself. Although many people surpass the realm of normal creativity, the rest of us have intellectual property to offer the world for many generations to come. After high school is over, most people stop creating their own art, merely to follow whatsoever trend that adds to their self esteem. Others take a hiatus from it after college because it has mostly been perceived as mandatory rather than optional.
I think it's more personable to value individuality over status quo! I've always dared to be different, which was actually me being me. In doing so, my art became life; however, because of creative distinctiveness, my life remains artistic in the approach.
In closure, does art imitate life or does life imitate art? YOU DECIDE!
